To be safe, deactivate debugging mode on Android smartphones

The Android system’s debugging mode can be activated when your device is connected to a computer via USB cable. But even if you enjoy tinkering with your phone’s features, this mode can be a risk when left on.

Users are therefore best advised turning it off after use.

The main function of the mode, also known as developer mode, is to allow a connection between the device and the Android Software Development Kit.

Backup and synchronisation programmes in particular often require the user to activate this mode.

The mode also opens an interface that allows access to system functions that are otherwise locked. The mode can be activated and deactivated under Settings > Developer Options.
